From a women's leadership luncheon to keynote speakers to panels centered around the member experience and Medicare Advantage success, this year's Medicare Marketing & Sales Summit was packed with insightful information and memorable quotes.
On adaptability to lead
So, the most powerful skill you can have, the path to growth and profitability in today's marketplace, comes down to one thing: your ability to listen. Your ability to listen to your network, your ability to listen to your customers, and your ability to listen to your team members.
- Keynote speaker Meredith Elliott Powell, during her session, "Built to Win: Mentally Fit, Powerfully Resilient, Competitively Strong,"
On mission and motivation in Medicare
We all have a choice. We don't have to work in this industry. And yes, we all want to do well, right? Brokers included. They want to do well. Everybody wants to do well. But we're in this industry because we want to do good. This is a vulnerable population that needs our attention and support. Brokers are no different. I think they see that.

Speaker Nishant Shukla, chief marketing officer at SCAN Health Plan, during the "Leadership Panel: Navigating Headwinds—Learnings from AEP & the Road Ahead"
On leadership
Early in my career... I had about five different CEOs over the course of four years, which was not a fun time. But what I discovered was that I got to experience many different types of leadership, and I could learn from both what I liked and what didn’t work for me. Instead of trying to mirror some of those leaders, it helped me lean into and define what my leadership style was...For me, staying true to who you are and learning to define your leadership strategy or leadership style based on who you are and not really letting that change.
- Cristi Vredenburg, vice president of enrollment, product, and marketing at ATRIO Health Plans, during the "Women’s Leadership Lunch 'N' Learn: Panel – Thriving During Times of Change"
