For the first time, RISE will offer four half-day workshops on Sunday, June 29, the day before the main conference begins. Take a look at what’s planned:

Workshop A: Deep Dive into Quality and Stars Data

Liz Carr, VP of product delivery & customer experience, Ingenia, and Vandna Bhrany, principal
8BAdvisors will lead this morning 3 ½ hour workshop that dives into the data sources of HEDIS, Stars, and other quality programs. They’ll explore how to get the right data and use it the right way, identify new data sources that can help and validate it as complete, review rates and examine data sources behind calculations and discuss data sources, how to know it’s correct, and how to improve it to ensure rates are accurate.

Participants will gain a deep knowledge of data needed to successfully deliver an on-time an accurate HEDIS submission, understand why Stars results may differ from what CMS tells you they are, and how to bring in new data sources to successfully report the new clinical measures.

Workshop B: Operational Improvements to Boost HEDIS Scores in the Age of ECDS

This morning workshop will explore HEDIS data governance, annual HEDIS project governance, HEDIS supplemental data management, HEDIS audit management, and interdisciplinary HEDIS approach. Workshop leaders include Katharine Iskrant, practice leader, and Rhonda Farrar, clinical HEDIS supervisor, both from Healthy People, Inc., Julianne Eckert R.N., BSN, CCM, CMCN, ACMP, senior director, clinical quality programs, Clover Health, and Mary A. Goble, MSN, R.N., director clinical quality and performance improvement, Capital Health Plan.

Workshop C: Stars Math and Strategy: Work Smarter, Not Harder

This afternoon session will explore both foundational measures and broader performance levers unique to Stars that can dramatically impact your overall rating, potentially adding or subtracting dozens of points from your Stars score.

Workshop leaders include Nate Lucena, president, managing director, and Rex Wallace, CEO, both of RWC, Mick Twomey, chief executive officer, and Josh Renken, president, both of Hyperlift, a Press Ganey Company, and Jessica Assefa, partner, strategic consulting, Press Ganey.

Over 3 ½ hours, the leaders will discuss high-impact performance levers including the 5-weighted quality improvement (QI) measures and the upcoming Excellent Health Outcomes for All (EHO4All), formerly known as HEI. Participants will learn how these components interact to shape plan performance and member outcomes.

The workshop will also offer insights into key Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services regulatory and legislative updates and their impacts on quality measurement and Star ratings. Leaders will discuss how evolving federal priorities and rulemaking may influence plan strategy and compliance moving forward, as well as how these fit in with current legal challenges to Star ratings.

Participants will deepen their understanding of the CAHPS and HOS domains, including how and where to access data needed to inform key strategies. Speakers will provide best-practice strategies that span multiple domains, and examine innovative, real-world examples you can apply immediately within your organization.

Participants will receive a customized, contract-specific workbook that evaluates both basic and advanced Stars applications and helps translate workshop concepts into actionable next steps tailored to your plan.

Workshop D: Prepare a Winning HEDIS Strategy for Today and Tomorrow

Iskrant, Farrar, Eckert, and Goble will return to lead this afternoon session on how to overcome HEDIS hybrid lift loss now that the hybrid method is being retired by MY 2029. Participants will learn how to leverage digital clinical data sources, case management data, HRA data, and cross-cutting measure-specific exclusion data mining. Workshop speakers will review improvement strategies for HEDIS measures and explain how to be successful on the current and future ECDS measures.
