Dr. Archelle Georgiou to present opening keynote at RISE West 2025

The nationally recognized physician, health care journalist, and consumer advocate will draw on her multifaceted career to offer advice on how to embrace change, define purpose, and make value-driven decisions.

Archelle Georgiou, M.D., a C-suite leader, advisor, media personality, and patient advocate, will kick off RISE West 2025 on Monday, August 25, with a presentation on “The Power of the Pivot: Navigating Change with Purpose and Clarity.”

Her keynote sets the theme of this year’s Medicare Advantage senior leadership event: Pivoting from Short-Term Adjustment to Long-Term Strategy. This year’s RISE West agenda will dig deeper into today’s most pressing market forces—

from increased audits and AI adoption to shifting political tides—with fresh perspectives from C-suite trailblazers, policy experts, and investment leaders.

Dr. Georgiou brings a unique lens to the art and science of navigating through uncertainty. From leading health care innovation in corporate boardrooms to co-founding a national COVID-19 data initiative and transitioning across roles in media, medicine, and technology, she has pivoted with intention and impact. RISE West attendees will leave the session empowered to lead through change with clarity and conviction.

A former chief medical officer at UnitedHealth Group, Dr. Georgiou has advised organizations across health care, investment, and technology and co-founded the University of Minnesota COVID-19 Hospitalization Tracking Project. With over 16 years as a medical correspondent and more than 2,000 broadcast segments to her name, Dr. Georgiou simplifies complex health issues for national audiences and has been featured by CNN, Fox & Friends, and Good Morning America. She currently serves as board chair of Children’s Hospital Minnesota and executive in residence at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.

Following her keynote, Dr. Georgiou will moderate a panel of patients and caregivers, who will share their personal journeys, what’s working, what’s not, and where there’s opportunity for improvement. Panelists will discuss their experiences navigating health plans and provider networks, access to care, communication challenges, and care coordination, and how payers and providers can better support community health.
