The average Star rating for Medicare Advantage plans declined in 2024, the second year there was an overall drop in ratings. Don’t wait to prepare for the upcoming measurement year. Join RISE’s Star Ratings Master Class in December to learn how to boost your plan’s Star ratings.
Our 14th annual conference will take place Dec. 11-13 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, San Diego. Here’s why you don’t want to miss this must-attend event for Medicare Advantage plan professionals responsible for Stars and quality:
HEAR FROM CMS DIRECTLY ABOUT STAR RATINGS
Ashby Wolfe, M.D., MPP, MPH, regional chief medical officer, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will kick off the main conference on Tuesday with a keynote on the Medicare Advantage Star Ratings program. She’ll review key elements of the 2024 Medicare Advantage and Part D Star ratings and discuss the Contract Year 2025 technical changes contained in the Medicare Advantage plan program proposed rule.
Dr. Wolfe is a board-certified family physician and works for CMS in the Seattle and San Francisco offices, where she focuses on the implementation of Medicare and Medicaid policy across the Western United States and the Pacific Territories. She provides clinical expertise to the divisions of Medicare and Medicaid payment policy, quality improvement, survey operations, and contracted health plans and serves as a principal liaison with the clinical community. Dr. Wolfe also serves as co-lead of the CMS Acute Hospital Care at Home Initiative, as extended by Congress, following the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency.
PRECONFERENCE WORKSHOPS ADDRESS ECDS AND THE ‘NEW STARS MATH’
We’ve planned two preconference workshops on crucial concerns for quality professionals.
Industry experts from Clover Health and Healthy People, Inc. will lead the morning session on Monday, December 11, and go over how to prepare for Electronic Clinical Data Systems (ECDS). The workshop will focus on reporting challenges, the proposed digital measures, and how to create a data journey for each quality measure data source.
The afternoon session will involve a dive into the new Stars math with the team from Rex Wallace Consulting. They’ll review the final rule and the new calculation of Stars and will also discuss crucial Part D measures. The team will help you build strategy around the new Health Equity Index reward, the Improvement measure, and the impact of the reduced member experience weights on your score.
