Capturing Correct Codes Utilizing the AHA Coding Clinic®
Correct coding is key when it comes to patient care and reimbursement for both the providers and the health plans. Although ICD-10-CM guidelines provide general guidance, there can be some vague areas on how to correctly code a condition that arises from either new codes, revised codes and/or deleted codes that were made to ICD-10-CM. One of the key tools that should be referenced is the AHA Coding Clinic® to capture codes correctly to avoid overcoding and undercoding.
