RISE’s annual event returns April 15-17, with targeted sessions and networking opportunities to foster the collaboration needed to achieve health equity. Ahead of this year’s event, RISE talked to conference Steering Committee member Beck Moore, CEO, Community Action Association of Pennsylvania (CAAP), a community-based organization, about the lasting partnerships his organization has gained from the summit.

The RISE Summit on Social Determinants of Health will be held in New Orleans on April 15-17. The three busy conference days will feature more content than ever before: more than 80 industry-leading presenters, over 30 focused sessions, 10 scheduled networking opportunities, and four pre-conference workshops. As always, the conference aims to foster cross-sector collaboration, connecting stakeholders from payers, providers, community-based organizations, government organizations, and funders inspired to work together to drive social good.

Moore, a returning conference attendee and current member of the conference Steering Committee, a selected group of industry leaders who offer their insights to successfully shape the event program, shared with RISE how the conference has benefited CAAP in more ways than one. CAAP, a membership-based organization serving 42 Community Action Agencies in the state of Pennsylvania, advocates for and solves issues of poverty through a variety of support services.

“Out of all the conferences we go to, your conference is the only one where it’s not just one or two sessions that’s beneficial, it’s every single session there is a takeaway that I am able to think about how this is either intertwined, implemented, or connected back to the day-to-day work that we do and how it can be effectual,” said Moore.

Another key benefit from the conference, added Moore, was the relationship building component. CAAP has sustained multiple partnerships that originated from conference networking.

“We’ve identified a number of partners that we have brought back and invested in relationships with those folks in order to drive future success in this work,” he said. “One partnership we developed we now have a contractual relationship with where they’re providing some consulting for us, and that consulting is going to be what I hope secures our network’s future for the next decades to come. And it’s because of coming to one of your conferences and making that connection that that’s going to happen.”

The RISE Summit on Social Determinants of Health

This year’s program will continue to deliver the invaluable content and networking opportunities organizations like CAAP need. The 2024 conference sessions will spotlight pressing issues in the social determinants of health (SDoH) space, spanning cross-sector collaboration, as well as how to establish buy-in for SDoH programs, scale successful programs, and sustain them.

Networking will take place during breakfasts, lunches, cocktail receptions, and session breaks in the exhibit hall, as well as during interactive roundtables.
