The 7th annual event will return May 22-24 at an all-new location in beautiful Asheville, N.C., to connect forward-thinking innovators and pioneering senior-level women to address the myriad of challenges women face at work and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion to cultivate female leadership in health care. All genders are welcome in this push for empowerment and innovation.

The RISE Women in Health Care Leadership Summit will bring timely conversations to the table around mental health, financial empowerment, psychological safety at work, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Here’s a first look at the top five features you won’t want to miss:

1. New preconference workshop

This year’s conference will feature a three-hour, hands-on preconference workshop on Sunday, May 22 with Certified Facilitator in Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead Program and Marriage and Family Therapist Mandie Kelel, MS, who will lead the workshop and help attendees identify key concepts that will challenge how you think about leadership.

With Kelel’s guidance, participants will explore topics such as granting yourself permission to be more open, ask more questions, and give yourself what you need; the various environments in which you work, live, and play, and how to learn to listen to the people that really matter; and the myths of vulnerability and how being vulnerable creates a more competent and daring leader.

2. A keynote address from Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead Program

Kelel will return and take the main stage on Monday, May 23 to kick-off the first full day of the conference with a keynote address inspired by Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead focused on how to use “living into your values” to combat burnout at home and at work. Kelel will discuss the reality of burnout in our personal and professional lives and the techniques that can bring more balance. She’ll share how to identify burnout both at home or at work, how to clarify your values and align your behavior with those values to aid in combating burnout, and how to create boundaries that can help you maintain focus on your values.

  • Overcoming challenges to find your passion, for you and your team
  • Addressing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility at the workplace
  • Breaking down mental health stigmas
  • Learning negotiation strategies to achieve financial empowerment, independence, and security
  • Developing your elevator pitch and personal brand
  • Building psychological safe work culture
  • Obtaining leadership skills for the future

4. Networking with like-minded professionals

With more networking opportunities than ever before, attendees will have ample time to connect and foster new relationships across the industry. This year’s agenda will include 10 facilitated and interactive networking opportunities, including a welcome reception on Sunday evening and a cocktail reception Monday evening. Attendees will enjoy cocktails, small bites, and face-to-face networking, which will include a color-coded system to self-select your comfort level for interacting with peers.

5. A new, historic location

Taking on a new coast and new location, this year’s summit will be held in beautiful and historic Asheville, N.C. The mountain city, featuring a funky and eclectic downtown and more breweries per capita than any other American city, is a beloved hub of live music and beautiful scenery of the Appalachian Mountains.

The conference will take place at The Omni Grove Park Inn, which offers guests a unique subterranean spa with an indoor pool, a Donald Ross-designed championship golf course, locally sourced restaurants, and so much more. Be sure to book your room ASAP as the current room rates expire April 21. Mention “Women in Health Care” when placing your reservation.
