The 9th annual Special Needs Plan Leadership Summit will feature sessions that address regulatory and legislation updates; audits and compliance readiness; marketing and communication strategies; and operational best practices for special needs plans (SNP). A pre-conference workshop that goes over the basics of SNPs
The SNP 101 workshop will take place 10:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 and will cover must-know information for new or growing SNP plans. Melodie Farmer, model of care specialist, Care Oregon, and John Lovelace, president, UPMC, will go over best practices for building your model of care, including meeting all Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements and CMS submission processes, as well as the creation of a fully functional interdisciplinary care team to complete member outreach.
Regulation and legislation updates/audit compliance readiness
Sessions will focus on:
- The impact of CMS legislation changes, including audit protocols 2021, on SNPs
- Medicare & Medicaid integration and unified appeals and grievances requirements for dual eligible enrollees
- The integration requirements for D-SNPs in CY21 and beyond
- Developing relationships and contracting best practices with state officials
- Statewide, Part C and D data validation, and CMS recently audited plans in 2019/2020
Operational and best practices for SNPs
Session topics include:
- How to use community mobile teams to reach high-utilizing members
- Accurate documentation in risk adjustment leads to accurate payment
- Addressing social determinants of health
- Fostering partnerships between SNPs/Medicare-Medicaid plans, community-based providers
Marketing and communication strategies
Speakers will address:
- Unique strategies to connect with hard-to-reach members
- Overcome communication barriers from an equity perspective
