This year’s Women in Health Care Leadership Summit will be a live-streaming virtual event on June 14-15.

The sixth annual event will focus on four key themes: leading in times of change; mentorship; diversity, inclusion, and equality; and learn, connect, and inspire.  Here are 11 of the planned sessions:

Coaching and mentorship–from concept to practice

Colleen Gianatasio, lead, field programs, risk adjustment, Devoted Health, will moderate a panel discussion about how to establish and maintain successful mentor/mentee relationships, how to create an environment that encourages mentorship and coaching, how to advocate for yourself, and tips to enlist allies and champions to successfully navigate your corporate environment. Panelists will include Karin Vanzant, VP, integrated community partnerships, CareSource; Jaci J Kipreos, CPC, Practice Integrity; and Jacob Swartzwelder, CPC, managing director, Compliant Approach Partners, LLC.

Cultivating success as a woman in health care

Learn how to create a corporate culture that supports and empowers women. Wakely’s Kelsey Stevens, director and senior consulting actuary, will discuss how to leverage your network to find and invest in the right professional relationships, offer best practices to take accountability for your thoughts and actions, suggest key tactics to help you affirm your self-worth, and help you explore your unique strengths to find your voice.

The art of giving and receiving feedback

This session will help you improve performance, accountability, and foster a learning environment with constructive feedback. You’ll learn how to solicit feedback and turn sporadic advice into coaching relationships.

The magic of authenticity at the workplace

Gianatasio will return to the virtual stage to present a session that explains how to foster an environment that allows for risk-taking and avoids conformity. You’ll discover your core values as a leader to better connect with your team, learn how to draw and accept authenticity in others, use authenticity to find your own career path, and embrace vulnerability as a powerful leadership tool.

Leading powerful conversations

Join Dale Klein, a communication expert with extensive experience in the health care industry, as she uncovers the secrets of leading meaningful dialogs whether they are in person, virtual, one-on-one, or in group settings. Klein, corporate communication and speech specialist, Profitable Speech, LLC, will present tools to create an environment that ignites innovation and avoids “group think” or “follow the leader” responses, best practices for public speaking in live or virtual settings, and tips to approach difficult topics that lead to meaningful discussions.

Self-advocacy and self-care in the times of COVID

This session will discuss how COVID-19 forced leaders to pivot, learn, and adapt to the new normal. The presentation will also focus on isolation and career advancement, including how to successfully navigate changes, keep your professional profile relevant, and increase your visibility.

Strategies to enhance your negotiating and influencing skills

Learn how to position your priorities and goals to get the most buy-in during this 45-minute session. Topics will include how to lead teams (discuss assertiveness and influencing to impact outcomes); taking diversity of backgrounds, cultural barriers, opinions, and personalities into consideration when presenting your case; and address and eliminate the salary gap.

Continue the conversation: Equality, diversity, and inclusion in health care

Speakers will discuss the cultural shift that acknowledges and addresses divisiveness and setting the tone from the top for a more inclusive workplace. You’ll learn how to hire, promote, and manage diverse teams that reflect your client population; how to lead your team through social justice and emotional fatigue dialogs; and address the challenges of generational gaps and diverse background, and their effect in your leadership style. Scheduled speaker: Jackie Smith, principal/owner, Reflections on Learning.

Corporate boards: Securing your seat at the table

This session will focus on the steps you need to take to prepare yourself to be part of your first board. You’ll learn how to leverage your network, experience, and strengths to find and keep your seat at the table as well as strategies to stand out in this competitive environment.

Emotional intelligence and leading through chaos

Learn how to manage, engage, and connect in virtual environments and remote workforce. This session will discuss how to lead in complex situations and through change and how to establish clear expectations for yourself and your team during unpredictable circumstances.

What is your destination? Develop your action and execution plan

Best-selling author and executive coach Dr. Ginny A. Baro will close the conference by helping you develop your action plan using the key takeaways from the conference. She will walk you through the steps to help identify your top priorities, execute, and stay in momentum in the next few months—whether you are looking to advance your career, integrate life and work more gracefully, or impact your organization’s culture.
