Special Presentation: Strategies to Improve Kidney Health Evaluation HEDIS Measure Satisfaction in Primary Care

The National Kidney Foundation partnered with the NCQA to advance the Kidney Health Evaluation for Patients with Diabetes (KED) HEDIS measure. Overarching performance against this new measure is low with most plans only achieving 35-40% measure satisfaction. 90% of the 37 million Americans with kidney disease remain undetected and undiagnosed. As a disease multiplier, low levels of kidney disease testing and diagnosis negatively impact overarching quality in a population health model.

  • Discuss the barriers that exist to improved KED performance.
  • Highlight the role that improved KED Measure satisfaction can play in reducing emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and readmissions.
  • Overview interventions that United Health Group is deploying to increase KED Measure satisfaction and improve overarching care.
