Join Kevin Mowll, executive director, RISE Association, and Kathleen Ellmore, managing director, Engagys, for a deep dive into the results of a RISE-Engagys survey that uncovers how health plans are communicating with members during the COVID-19 pandemic. The webinar, COVID-19 Communications Response Survey: Addressing Near and Long-Term Member Communication Strategies, will take place at 1:30 p.m. EST, Tuesday, May 5.

The COVID-19 pandemic has upended the health care system with information about the novel coronavirus changing daily, in some cases, hourly. Therefore, it is vital for health plans to develop or adjust their communication strategies to reassure and help members navigate their health care.

RISE and Engagys conducted a survey in late March to find out current communication tactics that industry professionals have deployed in response to COVID-19. Kevin Mowll, executive director, RISE Association, and Kathleen Ellmore, managing director, Engagys, will discuss the findings during a webinar at 1:30 p.m. EST, Tuesday, May 5. The webinar is free to RISE Association members.

The agenda will address communication prioritization and channels, funding, messaging, call center activity, and response plans and strategies.

The survey results indicated that in the early stages of the pandemic, health plans responded to members most immediate and pressing needs through standard communication channels. But as changes in the day-to-day landscape continue to unfold at an incredible pace, it’s critical that health plans find ways to remain agile. The time for messaging around hand washing and social distancing is passing quickly.

“Plans must now be prepared to address more complex questions surrounding access to care for acute care unrelated to COVID-19, preventive screenings, and the needs of the newly uninsured,” Ellmore said in the summary report. “And to make it more challenging, some messaging may need to be targeted very narrowly as lockdowns around the country are lifted in a patchwork manner.”
