In this article we look at the RISE West 2022 sessions planned as part of the payer/provider alignment track at the annual RISE West conference, September 1-2, in Los Angeles.

We previously previewed the Risk Adjustment Track, Quality-Related Tracks, and the Compliance/Regulatory Track. Here is a look at the sessions that will take place during the payer/provider alignment track on Friday, Sept. 2, the final day of RISE West 2022.

Value-based contracting

Beth Zuehlke, chief customer officer Moxe Health, will moderate a panel discussion on how to approach value-based contracting between payers and providers. The panel will discuss recent changes proposed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in provider incentives and what plans are doing in response, provide case examples of effective contracts, and explain the keys to evaluating the success of contracts. Panelists include Barry Stelmach, CFO, Catholic Medical Partners; George G. Sauers, chief managed care and strategy officer, Rockport Healthcare Services; and Stick Crosby, senior director provider network and health equity, AllCare Health.

Chart acquisition and management

Pritesh Patel, director of strategy, Apixio, and Brian Murtha, director, digital strategy, Centene, will examine the current state and pain points associated with chart acquisition and management and its impact on value-based care initiatives. Murtha will explain how Centene used a digital approach to access, store, and share member data in a centralized location. Attendees will come away with practical steps to implement a chart data management solution to aid their organizations’ retrospective and prospective data acquisition and management.

How to reduce primary care provider burden

During this case study session, Cedar-Sinai’s Sonja Rosen M.D,, chief, section of geriatric medicine, dept of medicine, and Suzanne N. Chipello, director, program management, will examine the current state of primary care provider burden, including balancing burnout and patient expansion. Attendees will learn about Cedars-Sinai’s comprehensive project that focuses on people, processes, and technology to prevent primary care burnout. They’ll share interim results of several pilots that have had a positive impact on primary care physicians as well as RAF and quality measures.
